Pastor Dennis G. Dunn, II, moved to Albuquerque in 1992 and was called to lead Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church (FMBC) in 1994. He and his wife, Laverne, have two adult children. Pastor Dunn says he enjoys serving as FMBC’s pastor because it is a multi-cultural congregation with a local and foreign missions focus.

Visionarian

Pastor Dunn is a visionary leader who has declared FMBC’s mission statement to be, “The Church Without Walls, Going in a New Direction,” to serve people through whichever avenues the Lord makes available.

Educator

Pastor Dunn recently said, “It has been a joyful, yet challenging journey to minister in the area of Christian education.” In January 2003, he founded First Fruits Christian Academy, which provides Christian education to pre-K through grade five students in a caring environment. Pastor Dunn believes churches should meet the needs of the communities in which they reside. “From the cradle to the grave,” is how he characterizes FMBC’s scope of service to its parishioners and local community.

Leader

Pastor Dunn fervently believes Christians can reach heights never before dreamed of by obeying God’s will, praying, fasting, and trusting in God’s faithfulness. His fervent hope and steadfast faith in God compels him to continue to lead and partner with the FMBC family to reach higher heights and do greater works for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In September 2002, Pastor Dunn led FMBC members into a new worship facility having over 14,000 sq. ft. of ministry space. And, in March 2007, FMBC dedicated its Family Life Worship Center and First Fruits Christian Academy with a combined space of over 23,000 sq. ft. Today, FMBC has over 28 ministries serving Albuquerque’s west side communities.

Missionary

Led by Pastor Dunn, FMBC’s mission team has ministered in Guyana, South America; Hong Kong, China; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; San Pedro Sula, Honduras; Managua, Nicaragua; and Belize, Central America. Working side by side with local villagers, church members, and community workers FMBC missionaries have taught and shared the love of Jesus Christ in communities and prisons, to local and high-ranking government officials while helping repair church buildings and feeding the poor. FMBC also supports Compassion International Ministries, which organizes and directs the financial support and sponsorship of thousands of children, abroad.

Locally, Pastor Dunn and FMBC support Project Share and Noon Day Ministries by preaching, praying, singing, foot washing, and feeding the homeless. Serving at Noon Day Ministries gives FMBC the chance to create a satellite service every Fifth Sunday. Through Project Share, FMBC feeds homeless families every month. These outreach efforts are spearheaded by the Mighty Men on a Mission Ministry (M-3) with assistance from FMBC’s other ministries, on a rotational basis.

Passionate

Pastor Dunn’s passion for missions has inspired followers to trust God at home and abroad. Through prayer and fasting, he continues to seek the Lord’s guidance for the church, and obey God’s great commission to His people to “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:19-20).
